well, it's now official that we have the latest fall on record. many trees over here still have leaves that are still green.
many spring bulbs have their noses out of the ground because there has been no chill to hold them back.

late autumn
Well Mark today has been quite chilly only about 6c but when the sun was out quite pleasant, but yesterday it was quite warm about 15c and i checked my roses there was greenfly on them but no ladybirds knocking about.
Good Morning' Thought I'd pop in to say "hello"' Can't sleep and DH is readying for work, running a tad bit late'
Here in Kansas(US)it's unseasonably warm for this time of year, plants blooming only hosta gone from Nov.nipping them'We know the party will end soon but would love a winter with nothing but 60-70 and going barefoot, lol' Wishful thinking, lol' What to do with my Easter Lilies?? Help' TIA,Sis'
what type of lily is an easter lily? are you refering to Zantedeschia aethiopica? if it is this plant they are fully hardy.
Mark
No Mark, it is lillium longiflorum(Nellie White)like most of the Easter Lilies today'
Approximately 5 years ago,I purchased these (plants, near death, closeout sale for a mere .99) With care and some babying, they are thriving in the gardens now'
My problem is this;above temps are bringing them out of dormancy and now they are leafing out' All I can think to do without digging so many up(take all day)is to place a ton of leaves over their tops to shade/cool them down'
What approach would you take to prevent them from continuing this less than normal behavior, lol' TIA,Sis???
The last couple of weeks has seen a lot of leaf drop here in sunny Hampshire, the temperature is 1C above normal for this time of year here.
I've recently been doing some research on climate (not by choice!) and whereever I've looked they have all said that in the last decade or so, 7 years within that time have been the hottest and/or driest on record for the UK.
Well it has hit us today, we had a freezing night last night and today thick cold fog and then the sun came out at about 13.30 hours so a bit better, now its freezing cold but guess what my pelargoniums in pots at my front door are okay but will bring them in shortly into the conservatory which is still used as my greenhouse/potting/clothes drying room, this is a job for me to sort out over the xmas holidays as i want to put some new ceramic tiles down.
another relatively hot day for us again. it was 15C today and a glorious day. I went out and took photos of the setting sun.
