I have a purple Datura blooming in my windowsill.I started this one from seed, and it has a purple bloom about to open. I was excited so wanted to share that1 it is my first. Also my Brug's that I got to root are looking pretty good. :)

LUCKY! I have started the seeds last summer but it died! SObbing and guess I have to start all the seeds and hope some will make it...

I am gonna kill my cat. He broke the bloom off. but there is another one i noticed on it to. so hopefully he will leave it alone! If not i may plant him somewhere. JK

Oh, no, midwestsnowbird :( My dog did the same last year. Maybe we could exchange pets to avoid this *lol* If you mail me your cat, then I could re-send when the flowers are done.
No, seriously, because I know the feeling, when this happens to me and thats not really something to joke about. I hope you are going to see the next flower soon. I note, that you live in zone 3-4, so its maybe the last chance this year and that you properly waited a long time for this to happen, because the purple datura is a slow grower.
Here the house are also full of cats. Our cat, Gaia, got 3 kittens 5 weeks ago and they are everywhere... - can you put something up in front of your datura to protect it from the cat?

Snowbird-so sorry- they are really beautiful and smell so good. Mine are still blooming and covered with pods. If you need seeds I will have them.
