Could Virginia Bluebells grow in Northern California?

Sonoma, CA

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I am desperate to find out, having just been to Monticello for the first time and having fallen in love with the plants.
We live in Wine Country, just against the foothills. We freeze here, sometimes a lot, sometimes a handful of times a winter. It gets hot in the summer, but since that is when they are dormant, I don't see why that would matter. The spot I have is shaded by a deck with wisteria as well as somewhat from a deodar cedar. My husband and I have been gardening since he was early 20's and since I was 3. When I asked a nursery back east about them, she said I should stick with natives to my area. We have those as well as many non-natives. What do you think? Is it possible to grow a few Virginia Bluebells in this half of the country or not? Thank you! Leslie
