I saw this bird in our backyard in Los Altos Hills, CA. it made a clucking sound
like it was annoyed, when it heard me wheeling our yard debris barrels. Would
appricate knowing what bird it is.

It's a Cooper's hawk.
We have a pair that nests in our area and they are always calling in the morning.
They make a low rapped kek-kek-kek call.
