anyone have carrots re-seed? Couple of questions:
1. why are they white? I haven't planted white carrots in couple of years
2. why look weird - granted might be tough soil
3. Are they good to eat - still yummy?
4. I am 99% sure they are carrots since they have grown in that spot before - but could I be mistaken
5. could it be Queen's Anne Lace? Which has I believe grown in the yard.
re-seeded carrots vs Queen Anne\'s Lace
Looks like Queen Annes Lace ( wild carrot). Domestic carrots will reseed under certain conditions. However you would need to have them bloom and the seeds reach maturity. They are biennials so it takes two years. Rare except for dedicated seed savers. The root of Queen Annes Lace is edible but not very palatable.
Wild carrot (Queen Anne's Lace) crosses readily with cultivated carrot. It's recommended that carrot seed not be saved where QAL grows. Still edible though I didn't enjoy volunteers.
