is 2 1/2 feet tall from soil to top, can't wait, has maybe 10 buds on it.
culebra bud opening
Congrats Arlene!!! Now, what are you going to cross her to? What type of pollen are you going to put on her and where are you placing her pollen? Any pink aurea's in bloom? I have a Roseabella in bloom as we speak, pollen should be good for a few more days. Of course, you probably have a whole slew of hybrids your dieing to cross that one to already. Crossing her to a wild white aurea by any chance?

Bet you can't wait to see her in full bloom. Doesn't seem that long ago that you got her. She is doing very well and is a very pretty plant. Your green thumb is really working. Congratulations!!
Is this this morning? Hope you've pulled up a lawn chair. Can''t wait to see what's next
yes, liz, this morning. when the color changes i will take a close up. brugman, i have blooming 2 of your versi hybrids and dr suess.... have more blooms, if the weather holds out may have more choices...
Arlene, this is what a mother chicken must feel like when she sees the shell cracking and knows it will be very very soon. I hope I can make it to your place./Regards Annie
I'm so excited!!!
LOL CC!! We're all excited for you Arlene! It's a beautiful plant.
wow, I'm in the chair next to you, waiting. Can I get you anything while we wait:)
Conglat's Arlene (SMILE)
Good growing Arlene. The leaves are different on this one. Long and slender. Can't wait to see the flower.
Snowhermit,
The flower is more unusual than the leaves. I can't wait to hear what shes crossed this one too myself.
Brugman, you are going to have to tell me how to do this... and if anyone has some cool pollen, I DON'T HAVE ANY!!
floppy broke, 2 month old computer...on my way to take it back!!! (use it for work)..... will take an updated pic before i go, boy it is wierd looking!
I have some Rosabella pollen I will trade you for half the seeds from whatever takes. Rosabella is a great pollen donor, not much as a seed bearer though in my oppinion. Perhaps next year will prove me wrong though.

brugman, you will have to explain to me where to put the pollen...i have about nine more buds, also. if you mailed me pollen, would it last through the mail or do i need to pick it up? or is that convenient?
BTW, i moved this culebra up to a 5 gallon pot around 10/15, remember you told me to...just went out to take a second day pic, was going to move the pot around, and there are roots growing into the ground. wish i had put this booger in the ground way back when!
Lol, I my sincere apologies. I move mine around as much as I can as well and yes, I do find mine grow into the ground even so as well. Arlene, I could mail it, but I think for your purposes it would be better to pick it up so I can show you exactly where to put the pollen. Your Culebra has been ready to pollinate for the past few days and should be accepting pollen for at least 2-3 more days. At least by the picture. Perhaps 6, but I like to pollinate early. As its the only thing blooming in your yard you can rest assured it will be a good cross. Culebra x Rosabella will be a splendid cross.
Please send me an e-mail with particulars as I may have lost your # and such. One more favor-if you or someone else could post a digital picture of a Brugmansia flower with labels on the Corolla, Calyx, Stamen, Pistal, etc for those of us who may not know what these parts are.

That's a good idea brugman. Pictures with labels would be helpful to all of us. I can put labels on with my Photo Deluxe program but I don't have any good brug pictures. Looking at the contest photos there are only a couple that really show the pistals & stigma - I think brugie & brugcrazy had the best ones. Either of you gals want to grant permission to use your photos? The corolla & calyx would probably have to be a seperate picture - Of course if someone can provide a good shot of all in the same picture that would be wonderful.
Great! I'll play around and see what I come up with. Thanks Brugcarzy!
You guys are great. So many thanks to all of you for doing this. So many of us don't know the proper names for these parts and I think this will benefit both would be hybridizers and the overall just plain lovers of brugs alike. Perhaps spliting open a flower so that the attachments can be seen to the corolla as well as a pic showing where the pistal is by itself as well? I know, I am asking for too much, but thanks anyways.
So you're saying I have to stop using words like 'wingey-things'? Darn
You can use my pictures too. Anytime anyone wants to use my pictures for this forum or just for fun, you have my permission.
Shirley
brugie, i was trying to find your pics of tragedy 2001 and your peach, and another one... i can't find them!!!!
Arlene,
They are still under Extras/contest. If you need me to send them to you, I can later......just mail me.
Going to go take a break for a while.
