Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning farm folks. We are having a nice little blizzard! Visability is about 1/8 mile, it is 18*, wind from the southeast at about 30 mph and snowing sideways. I really like summer a whole lot better. Doing chores out in it was a bit of a challenge. The 4 wheeler and hay cart would have gotten stuck in the first drift so I used the tractor. I had to keep going back and shutting gates behind me in case the horses decided to play games, but they were soooo happy to see their breakfast. The horses and mules in the big pasture got double feed this morning because half of it will end up somewhere else. They came running and were tearing chunks of hay off the bale before I had it out on the ground. I feed the other 3 horses in big tire feeders so their hay doesn't blow around much. Insulated coveralls were the chosen attire of the day along with heavy gloves, a scarf for my neck and a stocking cap. My face stung from the snow hitting it. I believe this could be called the official start to winter! Lisa, your weather is sounding better all the time. I hope you all have a good day and remember to count your blessings.
