dumplings from scratch?

I need a dumpling recipe as soon as possible. I decided to make chicken dumpling soup for supper and I always use bisquick, only I don't have very much. I know there's a way to make them from scratch, but I don't know how. Does anybody know? The kids would be real dissapointed if there weren't any dumplings in the soup, it's their favorite part.
