This is a bit off the wall, but all I can think of. I had some seeds, maybe hyacinth bean, that had slipped under other packets, and wasn't sure what they were or how old they were. So I put them into a wet paper towel, and everyone of them sprouted! But its going down to freezing here tonight, and I think they will die if I plant them. I have no place large or lighted enough to grow them inside all winter. Is there any chance anyone would let me send them to be grown in your greenhouse, and you could tell me what they are and send me seeds next year? Pretty please, I'm on my knees. They are in their wet towel and the sprouts are growing fast.
Need a favor from greenhouse owner
What did they look like? Were they black with a white stripe down one side?
Yes, and about the size of a lima bean.
Aimee - sorry it took so long for me to reply to you. Had the "virus", and spent the day tying to fix it. I do think you have Hyacinth Bean seeds. These things get too big and grow too fast for most greenhouses. I have plenty a will gladly send you more to replace them. I think you should just forget trying to salvage these and just plant more next spring. Email me if you need to replace them.
Wait a day or 2 to email me - have to reformatt and dump Outlook.
Thanks, Azalea, I will just plant them in a sheltered area and hope for a miracle. I should have thought before I started them. I think I might have saved a few of the seeds, as I wasn't sure what they were. Maybe they will be good next year, but if not I will be in touch. I haven't grown this vine but it looks like something I would like. I do love flowering vines.
