I love the smell of four o'clocks....brugmansias, well....guess i haven't smelled the right one yet, or do they all smell the same????? can i cross my 4s with frosty pink?

dont' know if it's years of smoking or the emphysema but I can only smell them on a good night or when I had them blooming in the living room. What if we crossed them to a gardenia??? LOL!!!
Arlene, Perhaps you have too many blooming at the same time and they are mixing fragrances. I must confess that even when I smoked I could tell the difference between some of the Brugmansia hybrids on pure smell alone in my yard. Frosty pink has very little to no fragrance though whether on smokes or not. Giving up smoking has immensely increased my enjoyment of Brugmansia, but I too must confess quite a few Brugmansia are lacking in fragrance and how fragrant a Brugmansia hybrid is seems to very monthly much more so than the color of a hybrid seems to be able to vary within a given year. So far, I have been smoke free since July 4 to today by the way. Something I know I am thankful for in many more ways than one.
You two are something else. Crossing them to a Gardenia or 4oclock, indeed. Lol.

now, now, tig. the best thing a man can do for his kids is love their mommy...not smoking is up there though. wouldn't mind having a brug the color of my 4s, i guess you can't interbred them?

I wouldnt bet any money on interbreeding them with normal means, but its possible. Crossing seaweed and pine trees is possible if one has the right chemicals.

tig, you aren't my bad. have you tried cassia tea? a friend's mom took this and completely got rid of lung metastases. if i can find it i am going to drink some for prevention..

I was just thinking of maybe crossing brugs with dandelions or blue bells. There must be a blue colored flower of some sort that will cross with a brug!

I can't get over y'all saying that Frosty Pink hasn't got much fragrance. They smell so good they almost make me drunk on smell alone.
I am just jealous. I have never even saw one in real life, much less smelled one. All I have seen are pics, beautiful! I can hardly wait to be able to see and smell one in person.

calalily, you have a blue pea vine??? i've never seen one of those?? what color are the flowers?? i saw some brugs at dori's house(castle), inside and outside flowers blooming everywhere, i asked her her if she would adopt me???? she hasen't replied as yet. lol i told her that i would do all the cooking and cleaning, just give me an old blanket and i would sleep in the flower garden, lol
Gene splicing, not too much into the money required for that, I was thinking along easier means of simply removing the outer cellular membranes of say a double purple datura and a double pink Brugmansia, letting them recombine...doubling the chromosomes, starting a new breeding program. Gene splicing would be a great idea though if someone had the money and the time. Shoot, both require money though don't they.
