Hello my name is Florence Hickman

Hi gardeners,
My name is Florence Hickman. My husband's a retired officer that served in the army for 30 years. During that time I have gone to many places and I would like to formally introduce myself. I have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren. As I am getting older I am using more time in pure gardening. Although my first impression of this site was not such a enjoyable one I'm sure most of you are all welcoming and Devoted Gardeners. I believe that we all are born with a essence of Gardening in our hearts. Luckily while I traveled I collected seeds at every florist I could find and I think if I could get one of my Son-in-Laws to build a greenhouse for me I could surely get a garden going. I hope to meet you all sometime soon : ) Ontill then Have a great day! And happy Gardening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. My interest: Herbs,Rose! I LOVE roses :) Don't we all? hehe :)

Sincerely,
Florence (Tinkleangel)

Hello Florence, from the mountains of NC. I too, love roses and always wanted to have a rose garden. Unfortunately I now live on a steep lot with a lot of shade and had to learn shade plants. It's been very interesting and fruitful. The folks here have been a great help. For trading, go to the forums and then click on seed trading or plant trading.
I ordered from Jackson & Perkins the first time in 1959! I have used them off and on for years ( when I had sun ). But now I think you should check out Edmond's Roses or Weeks's Roses. I went to a rose show last summer at the NC Arboreteum near Asheville, and the concensus was that Edmunds roses, which grow on their own rootstock instead of being grafted, were generally better and stronger.
Where are you now and what planting zone are you in?

Hello Florence from sunny VA. My husband also retired from the Air Force and then the DOD as a civilian. I have been travelling ever since I was born (my late husband was in the Royal Air Force). Yes, I'm British, miss home but love it here also. We can find a little bit of God's acre wherever we are. Welcome and enjoy this generous and friendly site. My passion - Roses and cats ......LOL
