When is the bestime, as far as weather & climate are concerned, to plant dill seeds ?
I know the best time for cilantro is in
the cool winter months, so it wont bolt so soon.
Is dill the same way ?
Climate wise
Yes. At the same time. Fennel, arugala and parsley too. Cilantro will produce more seed and less leaf as the heat ramps up and, when fall planted, will produce bushier plants without bolting. I plant cilantro, arugala and parsley twice and dill and fennel in spring only. Parsley will often winter over.
My parsley re-seeds. It's a biennial. I didn't know dill should be started early. I purchased a dill plant 20 years ago and it comes up from seed every year. However, I have more mulch down this year than usual. Maybe my dill won't make it this year.
