CLOSED: California Bird with huge white bill

Back to the central coast of California again for Christmas. I always see birds I don't recognize, and here's one of them. Your help is requested.

I wondered if it was an American Coot, but had heard they have enormous feet. I need to get better photos now. Thank you both so much!

Yep, they do have enormous feet, but water can hide a lot! A bit like icebergs 😂
