We manage to get some in Hayward. Last year we were frost free and 10 b..until ONE morning of Dec 27th.
But compared to when I was a kid here in the 1960's..Hayward has really benefited by urban warming. Mango's and Papaya's grow,fruit.

Last year my petunias made it thru winter looking great. This year I have brugs blooming in the middle of November. I hope no frost this year again!

Kell- Maridol Papaya three years from seed fruiting in my yard.
Mango- 6 years old,4 years in ground from 2' stick. 8+' and has fruited.
And- Ice Cream banana..a pup in June of 2014 from the Hayward Flea Market..8$= cheap!
