I saw this "floating" past tonight and thought at first it was a small ash from a neighbor's firepit. Until it took an abrupt turn and headed for a Bronze Fennel in bloom, then took another abrupt turn and entered a Viburnum bush. I managed to find it and get a not too great photo. Any idea of what this tiny fairy is? She appeared to be about 1/4" long with a feathery dress and clear wings. I live in Northern Illinois. The Viburnum leaf she's sitting on is about 2" wide. Thanks!
CLOSED: Tiny bluish-white fairy bug!
It's a woolly aphid, sometimes called a fairy fly or wishing fairy - http://www.abundantnature.com/2012/06/fuzzy-white-flying-bugs.html
Thanks! I knew it looked like a fairy. I should have Googled "tiny fairy bug" :-)
