Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

Goodness, it's been busy around here. Thanksgiving Day was a whirlwind. My two sisters and most of our families met at my Brother's farm. My siblings and I grew up there, so it is always special to get us all there. After a large meal We all jumped into the 4-wheel drive 1 ton Jeep truck my brother got at auction about a month ago. He is really proud of it. he drove about 15 of us to the old railroad bridge on my farm. The footings to this old bridge look like something out of a novel with grape vines and tree roots growing in between the huge quarried rock. I have meant to spend a day fishing there ever since I bought this place, but have never made it there. The banks of the creek are steap by the bridge and you would almost need to put a canoe into the water. While we were there the renters cattle got out at my brother's place. Their calves had been taken away from them the day before (My sister-in-law was none to pleased to have 50 bawling cattle on Thanksgiving Day). So my brother had to run across the corn field to chase them back. They ended up going about 3 miles before they were turned around to home. After spending most of the afternoon at my brother's , my brother and I decided to look through some of my junk for parts for his jeep. (embarrassed to say I have some old jeep parts.) Found some door handles for his "new" farm toy. Couldn't help him out with a rear view mirror or wind shield though. Then we went off to look for a calf I hadn't seen for a couple of days. found her right off and she was fine, but had gotten separated from the little herd. This is the little heifer that I bought as a bottle calf and never really tamed down. All the time my brother and I were looking around , my niece, played with the old ponies. They had spent the summer at my brother's and had now come home. She has a couple of her own horses, but really misses these old ponies.
on Friday I had a vacation day from work. My daughter didn't so I babysat my Granddaughter all day. We did some visiting and then here to the farm. I had scads of laundry and house cleaning to do. I have forgotten how much of a handful a small toddler can be. Then my best friend and her husband came to help us take down some very difficult old dead trees in the yard. I was scared for my husband to try to do it on his own. One tree could hit the gas tanks, propane tank fence or well, it was in a touchy spot. It started to sprinkle and blow chilly rain on us, but the trees are down and lots of wood cut. Hubby and I still have quite a job ahead of us. But so nice to not worry about the wind bringing these old trees down on something. My middle daughter then brought her son to me and picked up my Granddaughter and took her home to her sister's so she could visit in town. I will spare you guys the logistics of that, but it ended up that we took our friends out to eat (despite the fact all our fridges are full of leftovers). Again I forget how much work little people are. He played drop the spoon and see who will get it for me, and I want to eat the crackers with the crinkly wrapping not the ones without it. Got home exhausted. Middle daughter came and got "little" Grandson later. Whew. Quite a day.
Hoping today will be a little quieter. Have a couple of auctions to go to maybe. and am trying to win a bid on Ebay for a pony harness. My son in law found it there and wanted me to bid on it. We have a cart lined up. I have never bid on Ebay and never thought I would be bidding on pony harness. Oddly enough the seller is from a town near me.
Sorry for the long winded story. busy Holidays.
