I had a nesting family of birds in my computer room ceiling for 2-3 years, called them the lil skittering beasts lol. Anyways, I replaced some drywall a month ago after a leaking AC damaged it and I think the drilling drove them off. 2 days after I spotted this bug on the unfinished drywall area. A month later I spotted a similar bug, though it was more tan and translucent at the edges. Like it was under fed maybe. They don't bother us or the pets...yet. No bites so far. Are these bed bugs? Swallow bugs? Or maybe something harmless. Appreciate some help with this!
CLOSED: Please tell me it\'s not a bedbug
This is indeed a bug in the family Cimicidae that includes bed bugs, bird bugs, bat bugs, etc.; your image is not clear enough to determine whether or not yours is a human bed bug. See http://www.ext.colostate.edu/ptlk/1470.html for a key to differentiate them.
Flapdoodle thank you so much. I'm honestly not sure of the difference since it is hard to see hairs on such a quick moving little thing and I've only seen 2. They did seem hairless though so I suspect, with this being philly, the birds picked up bed bugs from the curb side disposal of someone's mattress. I will be caulking my baseboards this week and taking up remedial efforts to remove nesting, spray, and seal exterior openings with the landlord. Thanks again!
