Frogs and Toads

Well, during the sunny spell yesterday, I went to check on my pond, and there are lots of frogs and clumps of frogspawn. I suppose someone already has tadpoles, though?

I prefer toads - the babies are so silly, like little black rubbers, much smaller than new froglets, and they keep rolling over and getting covered in dust and bits of leaf and grass. But I haven't seen toads for ages. Anyone else?

No Mary, last year i lifted a empty pot and inside was a frog and then i found more, so we have just dug out a pond but have not seen any but they could be lurking, i could do with getting myself some tadpoles like i used to collect as a kid. I have put some large cut branches near the pool for them to hide in.Yes i bet it is fun watching the babies, that is what i love.

We get hundreds of frogs. When we cut the grass in the summer, it takes two more of us to walk in front with buckets to collect the frogs and put them somewhere safe.

Hello Mary
i have so many of them in my little pond it looks as if the water is boiling, we had a shower of rain an hour or so ago, now the suns shinning and they are all croaking there heads off, bit noisy they are, they all turned up tuesday morning, after the rain monday night, at least when they have finnished breeding the will start to eat all the nastys in the garden.

i have a new garden, as in NEW, so you can imagin my delight last year when i noticed a frog in my water pot i was so excited. only to find the remains next day on my lawn. My cat had decided it was lunch. It has a bell on it's collar but i don't think frogs can hear....can they??????

Daisy chain, Yes they can, but i dont know if it the same as we do, but they have ear holes in the normal place, and they are supposed to only see movement, which i dont believe, so the must hear well in some way.
