Kell,
all your comments to the photos you entered here recently are promoting two people or nurseries which sell plants.
I think that is not correct.! Mentioning the plant name and the authors of the photos is correct and even necessary, but nothing else.
Jordi
Hi Jordi,
Aren't they great photos?
No one has ever told me to write anything. I did it on my own. It is so nice of them to share their special photos with us.
In this particular case, no mention is made of a nursery but of a botanical garden where this photo was taken.
As far as David, he has no nursery. The write ups are more of a bio.
I see actual nurseries posting photos.
I really do not see the harm. Again, how great of these people to share their photos with PlantFiles.
Well this photo would be great if the photo of the nice Opuntia would be screen filling! The Echinocactus grusonii doesn't belong to this picture of an Opuntia.
What I don't understand is, why don't these 2 people enter their photos directly to the plant file as all the others do? Why do you have to be the mediator?
Of course owners of nurseries can post pictures here also, but only under their private name.
Gee, I do not understand your comment. What is a screen filling? Is the ID of the opuntia wrong? Are you saying we should not have 2 cactus in 1 photo?
They have no interest in posting pictures here. They are doing it as a favor to me. I have been thrilled because many of these people are well known plant people and search for plants in areas I can only dream about visiting. So many of their photos I posted to entries with no photos of the plant yet or were of plants not yet entered in PlantFiles at all.
I thought it was such a win for Plantfiles.
PS
Here is a nursery that posts the best photos of plants in their nursery. I do not see the harm. Annies Annuals adds so much to PlantFiles. I think there are a lot of nurseries that post under their nursery names. I have seen quite a few. Specialty bulbs come to mind instantly.

Plus many other members post photo's of plants taken in nurseries and post the nursery name. For example, DaylillySLP takes many great nursery photos and states the nursery under the photo. Again I do not see the harm. Her photos are fantastic and how nice the nursery is to let her photograph their plants.
Calif_Sue is another UBER who does that and her photos add so much. She also posts photos that are not her own that belong to specialty nurseries, She names those nurseries.
So I think it is not all that uncommon. Perhaps you just have not noticed before.
