Is this plant deer resistant? Does it like to be protected against wind next to a wall or can it stand cold and wind without problems? Full / partial sun? (I live in MD)

My sweet shrub is planted in the shade and I do not protect it. My grandmother had her red sweet shrub planted in full sun without protection.
