There's a couple of my cuttings with stems that have shriveled from the top down. It's like they've dried right up. The part that is in the soil seems healthy and green for about an inch up the stem. These are cuttings that have perlite in the bottom inch of the pot and filled with regular potting soil the rest of the way. I've been going light with the water but the soil has seemed moist enough. What do ya all think? Will these make it? Maybe I should cut the dried part of the stems off? I've worried they'll continue right down the stem and be a total loss. Maybe the cut end of the stems are drying out too much in the perlite? Any suggestions for these babies?

Sounds like they did get a little too dry. I had an Isabella cutting do that and I cut the shriveled part off, stuck it in water for a couple of days, repotted it in soil and it rooted too.
I have had a few cuttings do that too and I left them alone and they sprouted out from the bottom then I cute the dead part off.once you have some new grouth your out of the woods sort of speak.
Thanks ya'll, I've had two do this also. Pam
I do the same as Irish...just leave them alone and most of the time they will rebound on their own.
My Rotor Vulcan is doing the same thing.I was going to cut it off too.Should I leave it alone?
CC my rotor vulcan is doing the same. I think I remember Brugman saying that's what it does - and then it re-grows from the base.
OOHHHHH.... I hope it does,I hate being a failure.
