Lily success in TX

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

I have never grown lilies other than Easter lilies, Lilium longiflorum.

Which ones would work well in black gumbo clay & hot summers, usually drier than Houston ?

The Oxblood lilies and the Snowdrops do well here. I have some that were given to me along time ago and they ate still thriving.

Dallas, TX

Never grown them either until now. I got some at an RU from (I think) SPWD. I had to fight a squirrel over 1 of them all year long but I won! Now I'm seeing a lot of green leaves shooting up. Think it's called Crimson Pirate but could be wrong. My question is whether I planted them too far apart as I don't know how they bloom (once, like an iris) and if they spread (also like irises.)

More to answer your question, I see a lot of day lilies here in Dallas. Imagine that it can't be too much different from where you are.

Fort Worth, TX

I got some orange oriental lilies from Burgess a couple of years ago, all but one have returned reliably. That one looks like a couple of babies have sprouted but the central lily maybe got freeze burn from being exposed.

I also grow daylilies, crinum lilies and amaryllis. And summer snowflakes, if they are a lily. And asparagus (it is a lily)

No muss no fuss.

Arlington, TX

They bloom only once and can spread slowly if happy. I would plant them in a close (whatever that means) clump to make a nice show. I'm curious how they do here. I grew many types in a cooler climate.
