Tatsoi is a similar Asian green good in both salads and stir-fries.

Will you keep it in containers or plant it out? Choys are very productive here both spring and fall but it's hard to keep the deer out of the garden when the weather cools and grass becomes more scarce.

Yes I am keeping them in containers because I find that less grubs bother them. Years ago I planted them in the ground and I used Grub Baits , but I found out from one of my friends when I went to Ottawa that is a pesticide and now I do not want to use it on my plants again. Why do you try planting them in a tough wire cage.

Our garden is about a third of an acre not including the fruit trees. There's an acre plus with six foot farm fence surrounding the garden. When we are there in the warm months the dogs keep critters out but in cooler months we are there less and the wildlife gets brave. Deer will come onto the decks and eat pansies out of the kitchen window boxes. We plant several hundred square feet of each type of green so were resigned to sharing.
