I'd seen these years ago and thought they could not possibly work very well, then recently
was searching for a decent sprinkler and there were many positive reviews for them. The
all metal ones look pretty good. I bought a Nelson on ebay and hope it gets here soon.
I have full sun areas in the front and back yards where I want to try it. I've seen suggestions
to put it on a timer just in case it derails and doesn't hit the stop which I'm going to do.
People seem to get a kick out of watching them also, here's a video:

I think that if most of the modern ones hit an obstruction the motor keeps going and strips
the plastic gears. But most say that they get 3 years out of the plastic ones.
I think that the original company that invented this is National and they still sell the all metal
B3 version:

I believe that the original model is rather expensive, I paid $40 for a used but new in box
Nelson, hope it works.
