This is a nymph of a stink bug - it appears to be in the genus Podisus (soldier bugs). These are predators on other insects, and thus considered beneficial.
I've seen stink bugs refered to as plant eating ones. Is that something different?
Yes. There are many species of stink bugs that are entirely or largely predaceous.
Thank you! I know I've seen similar nymphs in my Veggie garden.
