Hi all,
This spider has been lurking behind the house number of a friend's house for weeks now. At first it seems reluctant to come out at all but recently has ventured out a bit more. I doubt my friend was trying to coax it out given her fear of spiders, so it must have done it on its own.
Can anyone identify what it is? The grouting there is about 1 inch/ 3cm wide, apparently. It's been found in Eastbourne, in the South East of England.
Thanks!

CLOSED: Black spider with thick legs - please identify!
This appears to be Segestria florentina, a tube-web spider. See http://www.uksafari.com/florentina.htm
Thanks Flapdoodle!
