I took these two photos of an 'empty' insect in Greece in the early 70s.
Has the exoskeleton been cast? If so, how did it extricate itself?
Or could it have died in situ and decomposed?
CLOSED: Empty insect mystery.
This is the shed exoskeleton of a cicada nymph - http://www.earthlife.net/insects/cicadidae.html
Thank you. Much appreciated.
