This is The First!

I just noticed this little problem with my calabash (gourd ) young fruit. What could have gone wrong? The fruit seems to be waterlogged. Or some sort of disease?

It looks like it wasn't pollinated.

@1lisac, spot on! Many thanks. I'm more aware of the non-pollinated female flowers issue in the garden, even though I see many bees frequenting the flowers. I'll be more vigilance and try to hand pollinate my squash more.

Here is another example of my non-pollinated fruit. :((

You're welcome. I'm not even sure if a plant is capable of maintaining all the fruit if every flower gets pollinated. I do get a higher yield when I hand pollinate but I still get plenty even if I don't.

With our hot, dry weather, Lily-love, all my cucurbits stopped blooming for a while. A good deep watering got them going again, but some are producing all males and some are producing all females.

Hopefully we'll get a good storm tonight/tomorrow and they'll get themselves sorted out again!

It has been rumbling outside, and I couldn't go out to fertilize my garden as planned, NicoleC. I do hope we'll get a good soaking. :)

1lisac, well stated, I hope to see several fruits in each vine and try to fertilize them in a regular basic and hope that I'll get a better crop?

Also I hand pollinated my 2nd 'Casper' pumpkin this morning. I'll wait and see how that turns out. :))
