she laughed when i told her...she already had figured it out! they had a hard rain one afternoon and it fell out of the nest. she dutifully put it back in and the parents continued to feed and raise it. all that for a Cowbird!

I care about native birds, but I think I might have let nature have its way in this case.

We had a female cowbird intently looking down into nests from the power pole today. One of my children gave her a fright I am sure she won't forget.
