I first saw it feeding on suet and then it flew to the ground, what is it? It may by a juvy, but I still don't recognize it.
CLOSED: Don't know what kind of bird this is.
A munia Lonchura, maybe Scaly-breasted Munia Lonchura punctulata. An escape from a cage (native to southeast Asia).

Wow, a lifer for me. Didn't have a clue what it was, thanks Resin.

Not realy a lifer, ticking escaped cagebirds isn't allowed ;-))

Ha, just my luck.
Somehow this is looking Grosbeak-ish to me. I've been going back and forth with the female Rose-breasted you have in the other post. The head markings are not right, but bill, streaking and shape seem very similar. I cannot think of the name, but isn't there some genetic mutation akin to leucism that shows darker areas, rather than the white.
I could be wrong, but the similarities gave me pause.
Good thinking! Yes, a melanistic female Rose-breasted Grosbeak does make a good fit.
