pekin duck ?
pekin duck ?
Hi dushyantdhari ~ Although a Pekin Duck is all white, this is a goose. I've always known them as Chinese Geese, but apparently, they're also called Swan Geese They are commonly domesticated in the U.S and can be White or variations with Browns.
We had quite a few in both white and browns many years ago. The domestic ones make great pets and ours were free to roam around on our property. They also enjoyed swimming in our pond.
Their loud and unusual "honking" sounds are like having a personal security alarm. We always knew if there was an intruder, human or animal, real or just perceived. Often they'd sound their "alarms" even if it was just one of our neighbors stopping by for a chat.
The link below shows pictures of some of the different varieties. The "knobs" on the front of their heads can vary in size, with some looking more pronounced than others.

I just noticed that you previously posted two pictures of Swan Geese in BirdFiles. Very nice pictures!
