Does anyone successfully grow these? I would love to try but have read that they don't survive the heat here even though they are listed for our zone.

Bleeding Heart
I tried, did not survive. I am a little warmer than you in z9a, but I wouldn't hold my breadth.
We grow Turks Cap, have had a wild bleeding heart one year in the deep shade along a creek bank.
I grew them in MI and they like a moist woodland setting best. I can't imagine them in TX.
