While we were in Winter's grip, I photographed many Juncos as they hopped around in that peculiar shuffling manner. As we approach Spring, I'm quite suddenly seeing many, many birds that strongly resemble Juncos, mostly feeding on the ground but without the shuffle and with much more perching behavior. I'd be concerned about my vision if I didn't have a camera for proof, but what on earth am I seeing - please?!?!
CLOSED: Junco Confusion
First two are females, last a male; all three are the 'Slate-colored' subspecies.
