Illicium

The illiciums have started to bloom. I know some do not like the smell of the blooms, but the bush is very striking when in full bloom. I have 4 different inlliciums in my shady garden.

Really pretty. Um, what does it smell like?

Some describe it as pungent. Some of the common names are stink-bush, dead fish tree, or wet dog bush. I doesn't smells that bad to me.

Those are some pretty descriptive names. I guess you wouldn't want to plant it too close to a window, huh?
