equinox plantings, well...

Had to wait on the rains that Pounded us. Whew. I promised pictures of unorthodox gardening habits to someone, and have an awesome batch of different maters to get into ground before I go. I have not poisoned before planting, and for me this year will be a boom crop of predators for my garden.

My square is 4'x4', and the turnips have been harvested as I won't be here for awhile. This bed is an unbottomed hugelkulture type raised bed. Sandy loam, cow manure, leaf mold compost, and root systems of previous plants. Poor things are getting tough fast. Rain, clouds and warm weather under the equinox moon is perfect for planting tho.

Watering is difficult on flat ground, so I have returned to dry weather habits others have taken to perfection. The pot with white rocks in it is for the watering tomatoes and has multiple smaller holes. I mixed leaf compost and white rock dust and small rocks into the plants holes, and buried these Momotaro tomatoes deep. They already have leaf sprouts coming on from lower, and are prob buried at least 12" down, 4" below top soil level. Of course, I have Littlefoot helping me today,so I have a few prayers going into the hole as well, that the tomato wont give up on me.

Littlefoot. My great grandson. Good soil, earthworms, and other strange bugs...

An after picture, or two, the mater in the old basil root stalk is doing good, but it appears some of the others disappeared. Third pic was how it looked when I left...will be home for Easter, hang in there plants.

GG, esp. I have lost both the Momotaro plants, one appears to be an inability to control the snails in spite of me (rain excesses). This unknown one is doing great and I have to get it staked- there are 3 of those potato leaf varieties, this 1rst one is doing best since it gets more sun.
The sioux apparently were eaten by fire ants. Nowhere to be seen. Unless the next thread has a Sioux?
