Greetings!
My name is Amanda, and I will be your host for the 2015 Spring Round Robin Seed Swap!
Signup will close March 10 and Robin will ship on March 15.
As the thread name suggests, we collect seed from our garden and/or fresh commercial seed to share with each other. When the time comes I will prepare my own seed and whatever is left from the 2014 Fall Robin, pack and ship the box (the bird, the Robin, etc.) to the first participant. They will take some seed and add some seed and then ship to the next ready and waiting participant who will do the same. And so on!
You don't have to have a lot of seed to contribute to participate. Any DG subscribing member is welcome to participate as long as you will be a subscribing member thru the end of the Spring swap (date(s) to be determined), sometime in May or June, 2015.
We are a friendly bunch dedicated to seed swapping and hoarding.
Many of us have participated in this time honored tradition hosted in the past by Susie (deejay9). Some of us have not participated in the Robin before. Please feel free to ask any questions of the HOST or participants on this public thread or by dmail.
Thanks for playing and for unrepentantly pointing out any flaws or errors inherent in the HOST's logic or lack thereof.
~Amanda

*Kindly review and refer to the RULZ established previously for the 2013 Fall Swap here:
RULZ:
In the interest of FAIRNESS to participants
and to maintain the INTEGRITY of the Round Robin tradition
we each agree to:
(1) Treat the Robin as an individual swap taking the same time and care with our contributions to the Robin as we would with an individual trade;
(2) Take what you want, give what you can, generous in contribution and modest in appropriation - particularly if the amount of seed in the Robin is scant;
(3) Contribute only seed of known origin (commercial seed, harvested from our own garden, etc.) not older than 2012;
(4) Package our seed contributions to the Robin in clear plastic zip lock bags and/or glassine envelopes so that contents are visible and easily accessible by other participants in the Robin;
(5) Properly label our seed contributions to the Robin with our DG Name, common and botanical name of species contributed, and date of origin (PREFERABLY ON PAPER LABEL INSIDE BAG/ENVELOPE);
(6) Respond within 24 hours to communications from other participants and HOST of the Robin by dmail, telephone, or other means deemed acceptable by the HOST;
(7) Post on the main thread the arrival and departure date(s) of the Robin into and out of each participant's possession;
(8) Maintain possession of the Robin not longer than 4 days including holidays and weekends;
(9) Ship the Robin to the next participant as identified in the Flight Path established by the HOST;
(10) Submit USPS tracking/confirmation information by dmail to the HOST only, not by public thread;
(11) Be a good sport; and/or
(12) Be hung in effigy and/or ostracized forever by participants and/or HOST for failure to follow these RULZ.

CLOSED: 2015 Spring Round Robin - Interest Thread
Hi Amanda,
if there is enough interest, count me in!
Val
Me too. Count me in.
count me in.
Did you know this thread says closed? Maybe that is one reason why there are few responses.
Ooops - did not know - thanks Crystal. :)
Dunno how these things happen but maybe cause I'm a little dizzy.
oops! I needed to sign up for FALL 2015 Robin!

Amanda, I'm not joining because I have so much going on right now. If you don't mind, may i request that I would like some Queen Anne's lace seeds. I'll pay postage. Thanks, Julie
Julie - duly noted. ;)
I'm going to post my thoughts here for new folks who wonder how much is okay to give or take from the Robin when it comes to you:
"About the amount of seed to give - often people will put a large amount in a zip lock back for everyone to pull from. Some others have the time and energy to enclose individually packaged seed, and it's a god-send but not necessary. Usually if the seed is tiny, a good measure is 1/4 tsp (more or less (!)). If the seeds are large then packets of 5-10 are usually appropriate.
I always look at the seed and think when I take - is it REASONABLE for me to completely fill a tiny plastic bag full of these (tiny!!!) poppy seeds?! How many do I really need to start !?
If the seeds included in the Robin are plentyful - take as many as you want or need. If they are scarce, be thoughtful of someone behind you who might also want to try it.
If there are three seeds left in a baggie, take them ALL! Don't be silly. You have to give yourself a chance for success, and hardly anyone will be satisfied (or perhaps successful!) with just one or two seeds (just sayin').
Them's my thoughts for lack of a better more precise way of describing the give and take part of the bird. I hope this helps."

A,
Can I join? :)
Hiya Stephanie - of course! :)
I'm in! Let me know what to do when :)
I'll get some seeds ready :)
Hi Amanda, I'd love to do the round robin!
I may have an address change mid swap, but I will keep you updated :)
Amanda...how many people contributed after it left here in Dec? And if I signed up could I be toward the end?
I'm interested, but won't be home where my seeds are until after April 1st. Can we work around that or shall I wait for the next one? :)
Amanda, what info do you need from participants besides our address?
Your money val!!! LOL!!!!
Oh, Kathy, you are SO funny :) LOL
:)!!!!!
Oh yess, my pretties. You are so very funny.
Um, Kathy I can't say who contributed what off hand. I can arrange the flight path around everybody's spring travel plans. :)
Money would be nice, true. But the sun is shining today and for now that's all I need. Enjoy your day - I'll post a haves and wants list today or tomorrow. After dark. :D

Thanks Amanda!
Thank you, Amanda,
for doing this again :)
Hey kids - got distracted by my JOB of all things. Ha ha!
Posting the HAVES and WANTS thread today. Please let me know if you would like to ship seed to me directly to include in the direct ship of Robin early next week.
Thanks so much!!!
A.
Amanda I would to participate again. I think the robin was more fun than Christmas. I even have nice little seed baggies from Michaels. @ Froggies I will send you a dmail and can send you queen annes lace. I did 2 jugs for winter sowing in an over abundance of excitement and I can send you baby seedlings if you'd like. What fun!
Hey everyone!
Today is the day I'm supposed to ship, however, I have been plagued with time consuming activities and challenges. Nothing new, if you've participated before. :)
Currently using landromat facilities out of the house. Internet is down at home, as is the washing machine - everything comes together in the public laundromat!!!
I am posting the "haves and wants" today - no kidding. I'll post that link here momentarily.
Thank you. Expect to ship sometime this week, ASAP.

Please post away!!!
The current thread is now closed to new participants, unless you beg and plead. We will work you into the flight path if it is convenient. Otherwise, you may still beg and plead and we'll think about it even if it's not convenient.
Thanks for playing.
A.
FYI:
Although the INTEREST thread is closed to new participants, the
HAVES and WANTS thread will remain open for the duration.
Please feel free to continue to post on either thread with questions or comments about the Robin.
The "ON THE WING" thread will post as soon as the Bird is in the air.
Thanks for playing.

Well I totally missed this one! So I guess the Robin will fly over me on this trip. I should have payed closer attention. Have fun Y'all!
Hey everybody:
I'm pretty embarrassed for falling out of internet space, but I'm re-subscribed and back on the proverbial DG wagon.
I just wanted to make sure everyone still wants to play. I can ship Monday/Tuesday this week.
Thanks.
~Amanda
Figured you got busy, Amanda. NO problem. I'm in if everyone else wants to go!
I missed t also as I thought that I would be having surgery soon but don't know for sure now when I will have it.
Ok
Amanda,
What about shipping out to Kat first while she knows she is home and then setting up the flight path from there? I know there were some people who wanted it last. If I can help, please let me know!
Val
Hi Amanda :) Not sure if you were counting me or not - but I'm going to pass. My garden space is so darn limited that it's not fair to take seeds.
But I have some to send if you want them lol! nothing fancy, just black eyed susan, coneflower and a few hosta ones.
Thanks!
Well I will look at the map tonight and see what path makes most sense based on location. Robin usually flies north in spring, but you know all kinds of things could cause a bird to fly off course.
Thanks for understanding. There's always some kind of crazy going on on this end. I'm sure by now most of you get that. ;)
~Amanda
Is it too late to get in on this Robin? I know I missed the signup and it's OK if You can't add me in. But if you can it would be great! Just let me know one way or the other. Thanks!

Is it too late for me to get in Amanda? I don't want to miss this!
Sue G
Hiya Sue G! :)
Not too late - I fell down but managed to get back up.
I'm posting the flight path right now so I'll insert you into the mix where you belong.
As you may recall, the Robin flies south in the winter and north in the spring. So . . ...
Leaving me in North Carolina tomorrow:

I will include in the Robin the list of names and addresses. I will not distribute telephone numbers unless we cannot reach you by Dmail.
If you have the bird and are prepared to ship, BE SURE to confirm that the receiving party is home/will be available BEFORE you ship.
We need to hear back from you asap so please check in regularly. I'm sure with spring here we'll all be eager to go thru the stash quickly! I know I always have that glassy-eyed look when I'm packing the Robin. I want I want, I need I need!!!
The Robin is currently to the gills (in over the beak?) in a Medium Flat Rate box.
We've discussed the best and lease expensive way(s) to ship. If you have time and inclination to print postage online, weigh the package at home, etc., then please feel free to ship via USPS in either flat rate, regular priority box, regional box, etc. If you don't have time, it may be possible to re-ship in the same box.
Please feel free to chime in here. Several of you have not Dmailed your shipping address to me or your telephone number.
I am also working on a new computer so it's possible I have your information on my old laptop and can pull it up.
Please be sure to send your complete shipping address and your telephone number(s) to me by Dmail.
Thanks so much. Let the games begin. :)
