Took this picture today, (2/18/15) of flock of Mandarins circling over a small lake near Dazaifu, Japan. Noticed a duck with a black bar slash on it's head, and the beak is different than a mandarin ducks. It's a clear as I could get it, so sorry for the poor quality.

Thanks Resin. Found a few images of the Baikal teal that are similar. Perhaps a male in eclipse or an immature. The photo with this reply is from the Oriental Bird Club site and was taken by Tom Beeke in March 2013 in China. I will go back to the same lake and try to get a better picture.
