CLOSED: Feeder Bird

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

This bird was sitting on my feeder during a gentle rain today. He/she sat there for quite a while until the rain started getting harder. This is in Willis, Texas (around 80 miles north of Houston).

It looks like his/her feet have some yellow on them.

Interesting one! I'd go for juvenile / first-winter female Black-throated Blue Warbler, but worth getting other opinions.

Oh, my. That's cool. Wish it was with adults, but it was the only bird on the feeder at the time. I will keep the thread open to see if anyone else chimes in.

Thanks much, Resin!

The little bird showed up again this morning. What I think was an adult Pine Warbler was also on the feeder with the youngster. I saw the Pine Warbler a couple of days ago when the youngster was present too.

Could the young bird possible be a first winter pine warbler?

Attached is the pine warbler (I think) that was on the feeder this morning. The youngster was inside the platform feeder so no good photos - only saw top of head most of the time. I'll keep watching to see if she pops up.

A friend thinks my unknown bird is an Orange-crowned Warbler.

Looks likely. Don't know why it is hanging with a pine warbler though.

Much better fit - I really should've thought of that before ;-)
