New House Needs New Gardens

We recently moved from western MD to laurel, DE.
We have an enclosed area in front with a sidewalk outside as you can see. I am thinking of landscaping with flowers along the outside of the sidewalk from one end to the other with a waving edged garden that is mulched. How do you think that might look?
