MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Merry Christmas friends of the MAG :) I hope you all are having a great time with family and friends today. I also hope you all weren't kept up last night with visions of perfect garden soil and self watering plants!! LOL

My wife and I have told our families today that they will be welcoming a new member August 2015! Pretty exciting and now all of you can be excited with me. We figure my wife (Darcy) is about 7 weeks along now. This will be our first child. Her first baby appointment is 1/14 so I might be a little early in telling all of you but I'm just really excited :)

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

That is exciting! Thanks for sharing such wonderful news with us.

We did phase 1 of 3 today. More to follow on both this Saturday and next. Hope all the MAG folks who celebrate had a pleasant Christmas. David made an awesome Nutella cheesecake.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Sequoia, Oh how exciting, such wonderful news. You have much to be thankful for this Christmas.
We had a wonderful day, down to my son Josh's home. Most of the family was there. Plus my Aunt and cousin. Julie's family didn't make it today, they hosted Christmas for her In-laws this year. But they will be at our house tomorrow night for another get together with family and friends.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all our DG friends.

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

Merry Christmas everyone!

Congratulations, Sequoia! What a wonderful Christmas present for your families. I can picture a toddler following you around your garden, shovel in hand, so he/she can "help" you!

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Jeff, that is wonderful news! Congratulations to you and Darcy and what a great thing to celebrate going in to the New Year. I am so happy for you.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

CONGRATULATIONS! We love babies around this forum. Thanks for sharing!
Best wishes to Darcy for smooth sailing. How's she feeling so far?

We had a lovely Christmas, lots of cute and thoughtful presents and homemade cinnamon rolls here, then over to step family's house for a loud day of eating and catching up. We did a white elephant thing with fifteen people, my two kids and I that participated ended up bringing home the same as we took. haha.

Wishing all a very Marry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

That's great news Jeff! The last addition we had at MAG was the bright star of Joyanna, Grandies not withstanding.
LOL Sally, at least you should have gotten something you thought someone would appreciate.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Geeze Ric- a bottle of wine, a bag of coffee, teas and hazelnut creamer single serves, and my daughter the creative one made 'the gift that keeps on giving' a bag of greeting cards, couple small rolls of wrap, tags, tissue. Who could not want those? haha. We were out shone by a 12 pk of Sam Adams, a remote helicopter, a set of glass storage dishes with sealing lids (how did somebody find that for 20$?) a bottle of cheaper wine with Outback Steakhouse gift card....

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I know where those glass storage dishes came from. I looked at them myself, Amazon special deals, some as low as 70% off. Really I got $80-$90 Queen sheet set for $21.99 for Josh and Courtney they just love them.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

A white elephant? Never heard of it. I think we do something similar with our house church though, only that everyone gets a coffee mug. This year the coffee mug I bought for the exchange was a toilet shaped mug. What a riot!

Darcy is feeling alright. She's been getting headaches, nausea (but no vomiting), and some other minor things. I guess that's how pregnancy goes. She's doing a good job so far though.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Oh, Jeff, THAT is wonderful news!! Will be praying for a good pregnancy. Very excited!!!! Give Darcy a gentle hug from Jeff and I.

I finally came down with the coldy/sinusy thing going around. We had dinner at son's house yesterday. I came home and went to bed and spent much of today there as well. UGH!!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Jeff---
I cannot tell you you happy I am for you both! I know you have been
trying for a while. Holiday's miracles happen!
CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES!!!

Darcy--keep up your regular activities and hobbies. You WON'T be "disabled"
because you are pregnant. Stay active--do what you always do--eat healthy--
take your pre-natal vitamins and you will have a healthy baby.

********************************************************
I would like to suggest that, at our Fall Swap, whomever is holding it--and wherever--
we do a DG Baby Shower for Jeff and Darcy. A nice thing to do.
It will be "after the FACT"--so we will know boy or girl. OK????

What do you all think?????? Lets face it--how many people of our "circle of friends"
here on the MAF are still the age of having babies? This will be SO great !
Makes YOU and Darcy very special persons. ♥ ♥ ♥

Wow Holly I wish I saw those sheets... maybe they'll do it again

Oh poor Jan!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Well, that sounds wonderful Gita... I feel sure many of us want to share this joy!

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Congrats, Jeff! That's great news! :)

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Aww you guys a re the best!! Thanks for the good wishes :-)

Jan, I hope you are feeling better today!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thanks. Not realiy., but plowing ahead. More annoying than anything.

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear that, Jan. It's especially terrible to be feeling bad during the holidays.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Yeah really. My Wunderground app on my phone says the flu is 'widespread'. Both my parents had gotten something bad this past week too and they live in AZ.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

I hate to start the new year on a sad note but we lost the baby last night. The process started Sunday night and it's been getting worse all week and our fears were finally realized last night. Since I told you all, I wanted to let you know. It's crazy that everything was fine a week ago and now everything is not.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Jeff, my heart goes out to you and Darcy. It is not an easy thing, but I know your faith will encourage you. Lots of HUGS being sent your way.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Jan, I appreciate your support.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Jeff, that is so sad and I am so sorry. I hope Darcy physically recovers quickly. I pray and truly believe that there will be children in your future. A large percentage of people that I know who have children have experienced an early pregnancy loss at some point. It doesn't lessen the sadness of this loss, but there is a high percentage that all will be well with other pregnancies down the road. My heart goes out to you.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Terri. That is the worry of us now is that what about a future pregnancy. One thing I've learned so far though is that we should probably wait longer before telling anyone. We didn't tell everyone but our parents and a couple others.

I am certain God has a child in our future as well and here's why:
I've always been on the fence to children until about Easter 2014. There is this little girl in our house church and she was never super friendly toward me until I saved her from a dog that was chasing her on Easter. The dog was only playing and meant her no harm but she was running from it screaming and I scooped her up. Ever since I was her best friend. She's 3. When she would see me after, she'd run up to me wanting to be held. So cute that it melted my heart and after a few months of this, I cracked and Darcy and I decided we would begin the process of going off birth control to start trying for a baby. I believe God put that little girl in my life to soften my heart and warm me up to having a child. It's plain as day for me.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Jeff, I'm so sorry to hear that. ((hugs))

What a wonderful story about the little girl. To her, you're her angel who rescued her.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks, she is the cutest!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Jeff--

I am sad for you two as well. Your faith will carry you through.
Believe it!

I want to tell you that I also lost a pregnancy at 3 months.
I had my 1st pre-natal appt. scheduled in 2 days. I was all excited about having
my second child 2 years apart--as i wanted. Then--lost it.
I was sad --but, deep down, I believed that Mother Nature knows best.

I kept my appt. with the Dr. and he said that 3 out of 5 pregnancies end up in
a miscarriage. That made me feel better. It wasn't anything I did.
I was concerned that I would have to wait a long while to "try again" and
my children would be too far apart.
The Dr. said--"NO! Go ahead! I bet you will be pregnant in 3 months!".
I was......This was all in the late 60's.

My Store manager and his wife had tried and tried and could not get pregnant.
They resorted to Artificial insemination at a HUGE cost.
It finally worked and they had a little girl.
They so wanted another child, but he said he just could not afford it.
You guessed it! They got pregnant the natural way, and are now
expecting a boy. He is ecstatic!!

I am just telling you all this so you can believe that the Body knows best.
And--sometimes--the Body needs a "dry run" to know how it should work.
There is nothing Darcy or you did wrong,
You are the kind of Guy that will be a great father.
Your heart will just melt when you can hold your own son or daughter,
It will change your life forever.

Hugs to you--and give Darcy one from me too.

Thanks for the encouragement G, much appreciated. It's weird, I had no idea how common this was until now.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

It is common, but hurts just as much in any case. So sorry about your news and hugs and encouragement to both of you. What a lovely story about the little girl you rescued.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Jeff, they've said it all, already, please know we are all here caring for you both. I so wish it had not happened.
That little darling girl was a blessing, as you are in her eyes. I hope her hugs continue to encourage you.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Pat and Sally, I appreciate your kind words.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Jeff, So very sorry, I am sure that there will be a child in your future.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Jeff, I want to add my belated condolences to you and Darcy. No time is good for such an event, but the dead of winter does little to cheer one up.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

I hear you GT for sure. I'm just glad she has had off work for the holidays this week.

Thanks all you guys for your support. What a great family we have here and I'm very thankful for you guys.

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

Jeff, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I know you're both hurting, but please take care of yourselves and give Darcy a big hug for us.

I lost a baby in between my 2 daughters - on Mother's Day, to boot, talk about really crappy timing! - and while I still think about that terrible experience, I remind myself that I wouldn't have my beautiful youngest daughter if my 2nd pregnancy had succeeded because we both wanted just 2 kids.

It will get better!

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

I take comfort that we're not alone in our situation. That is a good way of looking at it Susan, thank you.

I've given her plenty hugs and tonight I pulled up this thread for her and she read what everyone has written. She thinks you guys are quite a good group and she can't believe there are this many nice people on an internet forum.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Jeff, Holly and I want to wish you and Darcy hugs and the best in this new year. Your faith and resolve will see you through. As you have heard this is common, and just a part of nature, albeit not one of joy.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Thank you Ric I appreciate it.
