After shooting one fox this summer - a mangy looking creature that took out about ten of our hens, mostly by frightening them to death over several weeks - we now seem to have another one.
So I just ordered some predator fencing from Kencove Farm Supplies; what appeared to be basically the same products was about sixty dollars cheaper from them than it was from Amazon. I got 164' of electric fence and a solar charger. Not cheap but I felt terrible seeing my chickens disappear. Anyone else used anything similar?
Predator Fencing
We have regular electric fence wire enforcing the fences of various materials everywhere. There is one hot wire on top for the horses, one in the middle for the cows, and a very low one for the predators. It seems to work for everything except feral hogs. Some of the systems are solar others on house current.
I think this one has graduated openings and is live except for the bottom strand. I hope it solves the problem. Sounds like yours works for you, anyway.
- and yours should be even better.
What a great idea.
