I am planting a "River of Blues"...suggested in the Martha Stewart website. there is a clip there if you go to her website.(Just search for blue bulbs) Of course, I am not planting near the quantity of bulbs that she does...since it is her helpers, volunteers and assistants doing the planting.. I am having to duck in between storms...though not complaining, as last year we had very little rain and snow. I have some Whites already as well, most of them are Daffodils.

I could not plant the bulbs I had already ordered before our trip to Oregon in Mid October, since it was still too hot. I put those bulbs in our crisper until I returned. It might be "overkill", but we are hoping to put our house on the market in spring, and those bulbs near the side of the road (if not covered in snow) might make the place look a bit more inviting.

Here is what I previously ordered from Brent and Beck'ys:

I had a lot of whites and not enough blues...I put the blues in front of the whites, when I can. The blue color does not show up so much in the landscape without the whites...what do you think??

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Nice selection you've ordered! I've found that to be true with blues too, or at least some contrasting color needs to be with them. That is, unless there's a mass planting, then they show nicely. I usually end up thinking I should have planted more than I did initially, but thankfully many of the little blue bulbs increase well and after a year or two I'm happier with the look.

I had plans to plant a river of blues too, but my desire for more variety kept eating into the # of Chionodoxa I was getting. Started out thinking I'd get 1000 of them, ended up getting 500. Then felt like another area of the garden was lacking early blue, so 200 of them went there. So, we'll see if the little creek of 300 makes any visual impact....

Oh well, in a couple of years, it should be stunning LOL.

Natick, MA

A lot to plant but you will be rewarded come spring! Would love to see photos of yr blooms!

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

I am doing this to help draw attention to the offer on the house. We plan to put the house up for sale in spring. It will take us until then to get the house ready. None of the other houses have anything at all planted by the side of the road. Once planted, these should be worry-free, with no attention from me or others...
