lantana montevidensis

Grapevine, TX

Some years ago, I acquired some plants from a California grower. When they arrived, they were in bloom, and some had a wonderful fragrance. I discovered that the fragrance was released at dusk, and was a powerful attractant for moths. I later moved and rented the place with intentions of going back to get cuttings. When I went back, all my flower beds had been destroyed. I contacted the grower where I got the original plants, but they did not know what I was talking about. Does anyone have a lantana montevidensis with fragrant flowers? I would surely like to get another start, and I'll be more careful with it this time.

what color was your Lantana we have tons of Lantanas in Texas, the natives are used to draw whiteflies away from other garden plants, and the butterflies just adore the gold Lantana on their way south.

I have the purple trailing lantana you are talking about. I believe I got mine at either Arbor Gate or Producers. I would expect Arbor Gate to be the one with it, although maybe not right now since it is cold.
I don't know of any comparable nurseries up your way, but if you remind me closer to the spring, I will see if I can get a cutting going in time for spring RUs.

My lantana, camara I think, all stink but they are pretty pink and yellow blooms and much loved by tiger swallowtail butterflies and hummingbirds.
