CLOSED: What Insect is This?

East Hampton, CT

Got bit/stung by this little bug, which I swatted. It is 10mm long or a little less than half an inch. The photo is of the swatted bug under high magnification. It doesn't seem to have wings, but looks like that is a stinger on its tail end.

Any ideas what this is because I would like to get rid of it!

By the way, when I took the photos, it clearly appeared to be dead. About an hour later, it was moving again! Now I have it in a jar like when I was kid... but no air holes.

You shouldn't want to get rid of this, as it is a valuable predator on other insects. It's a nymph of an assassin bug, maybe in the genus Zelus. They don't have a stinger, but their stabbing-type 'bite' can be painful because their saliva contains enzymes that break down the tissues of its prey.
