Just photographed this (unknown to me) bird in an unkempt garden area. It was relatively small -- perhaps 4 inches/10cm long. The vine in the background of the last two pictures has a diameter of about a quarter-inch/half-centimeter; the plastic-coated stake in the first photo about three quarters-inch/2.5cm diameter. It seemed to be searching for seeds, and really didn't want to stay still for any length of time.
