Found this guy crawling up the wall in my house. Seems to have a shell that looks like a dust ball. His head retreats when I touch him. Size: about a 1/4 inch long.

This looks like a caterpillar known as the household case-bearer or plaster bagworm - see http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/occas/household_casebearer01.jpg for an image. It belongs to the same family as the case-bearing clothes moth - see http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20p?img=I_MWS71142&res=640 for an image), but it is far less destructive, apparently preferring to eat old cobwebs and the like instead of fine woolens...
