CLOSED: Grebe?

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

This bird dropped into my pond this morning. The bird was lifting its head out of the pond when I snapped the only shot I got, so it is a poor one. I am in Willis, Texas, around 80 miles north of Houston, Texas in a mostly pine forested area.

Is the shot good enough to ID?

My thoughts are Western Grebe, but I think that would be rare in this area?

Unfortunately not, it's so small I can't even see it!

Haha! I thought sure I included that image... Try again.

Oh! I went back out and there is a Pied-billed Grebe swimming around out there. I guess that's what plopped in this morning and it was just too dark to see it or get decent shots. These are much better shots...

Thanks, Resin!

Pied-billed grebes had me puzzled the first time I saw them because they keep that fat fuzzy immature look as adults.
