A mystery

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Does anyone know what these things would be? They are brownish round things about the size of an okra seed but flat and they're scattered around my cooldeck around the pool. They almost seem a bit jelly-like & it takes quite a blast with the hose to wash them off. They're individual, not strung together. I'll try to take a picture if needed. I'm a little creeped out by them😜. Janet

It sounds like some type of wood fungus.

The ground is a painted textured concrete surrounding the pool. No wood around...just took these pics with my I-pad.

I don't know, it still looks like a fungus, but who knows?

ask your county extension agent.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll start exploring. I've never noticed these before but there seems to be lots this year. When I have hosed them off, they come back. The only new plant I have is the pink muhly grass that came with an exceedingly prolific pink Mexican petunia.

As Josephine noted, it could be some type of temporary fungal growth brought on by natural yard sources. Add a cup of standard laundry bleach to a gallon or so of water and scrub it with a broom. Let it sit on the surface for a few minutes after scrubbing to let the chlorine component gas out and then rinse as needed.
