Any Ideas On This One?

It's about 2.5 inches long and was buried about 3-4 inches in the soil of my veggie garden. It's definitely a cocoon and not a corm or root.

June bug.

It was about 3 times the length of a June bug.

This is a June bug pupa. The grub that forms the June bug is larger than the bug. They live in the ground then pupate. The pupa is brown for two to three weeks and begins to turn a green color before the adult beetle emerges.

June bugs are the white grubs I thought. Moths case like that, and some beetles

It could also be a moth, they pupate in the soil as well.

Here is a pupa of the sphinx moth. If you had tomatoes or eggplant nearby it could be that. This is one variety, there are several with variations in the look of the pupa.his looks a little more like your picture.

Roux- That's it. It had that little tail on it and was in the bed with tomatoes and eggplant, both. Thanks, all!
