I have noted several birds at the Arkansas River Valley Nature Center in west central arkansas that are unusual fot this area. They feed on seed on the ground under a large feeder. There appears to be both males and females. Are these young Pyrrhuloxia - Cardinalis sinuatus ?
CLOSED: Mexican Cardinals
'Fraid not, just Northern Cardinals, in various stages of moult.
Pyrrhuloxia has a different shape bill, more rounded and stubby, and less red in the tail (sides only, central tail feathers grey-brown).
